Alright guys, this requires a little bit of work... and I'm more than willing to do it on my own if none of you have the time or attention span. However, we need to get these boards weeded out. Some of them haven't been posted on in MONTHS and others still have been neglected for longer than that... or with posts that go back to the very start of VST. It's a turn off to new members to see threads neglected in such a manner because they believe that it isn't a good board. At least, these are feelings I and I know a few others get when we stumble onto new boards. What I'm thinking about doing it going through each board and deleting all of the useless fluff posts... keeping important information posts that have been made, perhaps even placing those in a thread of their own (MAYBE). Also, Nana-san and I need to talk about updating moderators because some of our mods have gone missing. If any of you are willing to help me out with this CLEANING ordeal or you have any ideas on how it would make this easier or any suggestions in genearl please post here or send me a PM. It's going to take all hands on deck to get this done my little ninjas! Let's make VST boomin' again ~ O

We should have some of the mods assigned to clean up a section of the board so it's easier and everyone's contributing here.
"Fluff posts"? Elaborate Ocha~? For those posts we can probably make a new forum for it. Yeah....

I can get started on the VK forum (which I mod personally).
What do you constitute as an "old" thread? Ones dating back to early 2005+? What if they're the only threads for specific bands? Do we just delete them?

Shou, don't you mod the AK and Indie boards? I really need your help there because I'm no expert on any of that. As for the VK boards I'm going to need help from both you AND kaga because it's an extensive Forum with a lot of different bands.
Alright "Fluff" posts are posts that don't contain anything but things like "YEAH! I totally agree" or... that go TOTALLY off topic. Posts that don't serve any purpose but to take up space.
Deleting posts, I'm pretty sure, won't effect the post count of the already current members.
Alright, OLD threads are those that haven't been posted in since God knows when. Go through those and pull out the good informational stuff and trash the rest. Then I'll come through and move the info into a 'SAFE' thread until we're done.
If you see a forum thread that really doesn't have anything to do with anything like a 'game' thread for example that no one posts in just delete the whole thing.
Also, I'm guessing we can shift through the 100 yen bin, see what's worth salvaging and then make a new thread for those later. Other than that, what's there is probably gonna get trashed.
Thanks for helping out guys. I really appreciate it.

I'll do what I can between now and tomorrow (Dec. 24 and Dec. 25) but after that I'll be off so I'll work like mad then. *salute*

oh pffft whyd I put vk i meant indies. wweofijdfsf I'll get started on that now.
eeeedit: Hmmhmmm I've sorted out all the basic angura/indies threads and will work on DuelJewel later.. do you want me to prune the sub-boards too though I don't really mod them? I've deleted all the random chatter and broken link posts have been deleted as well. member post counts are still in tact so no one has to worry
I had a bit of trouble in the SID thread since people were discussing the Aki-pearl-necklace incident but ultimately decided to delete it cause the poor girl doesn't need another forum discussing the incident ^^;; And in the Porori thread there was a lot of good insight on bands similar to that particular one so I kept it in too.
ALSO a suggestion for my fellow moderators: how about this, we pruned out all the random chatter but it's bound to happen again right? So how about every six months we go through the forums again, root out the random talk and keep the new information so everyone knows whats up? Then people will be free to discuss for a while, share clips, whatnot then in six months we'll start fresh.

I agree with Shou, we should prune out the forums every six months (or however) or so. It'll keep VST clean and it's less work for us to be sorting through all of that later XD

I think that's a good idea Shou. That way the forums won't get so junked up.
Alright, as soon as we've got the forums all straightened up then we'll send out a PM or post up a sign for all of the MODS.
We still need to be hard on the 'off topic' and ' two word' posts because those just serve to trash up the board even more.
I think we might need to find out what to do with the boards and band threads that have been inactive for WAY too long. There are some that haven't been posted in since 2004. YIKES.
Anyway, if you guys would keep me updated on what you've cleaned up and straighted up. Also, if you find any articles posted up in your threads... I'm making a separate thread for those so we won't have to depend on the main site for it.
Anyway: UPDATE- The GACKT thread is clean and updated.

I guess I'll go ahead and prune out the sub-boards on the angurakei/indies forum, then. 83
I think in regards to the boards that havent been posted in sinced 2004, keep them if they have basic information on the band in question. Then when we're done with the basic cleanup, save those threads elsewhere and post NEW topics with the information (but crediting the original poster even if the poster isn't active on the boards much -- just incase he/she decides to come back, sees the article and has a funk about it)

Oro can you do me a favor and go in the Inugami Circus-dan thread under angura/indies and clean out the last thread for me? For some reason its not letting me see the thread. If something similar happens to you (your window suddenly closes on its own), just delete it all, thanks.
All the other subforums have been cleaned out. I've moved single bits of information from subthreads to add to the mainsite article thread.

I really appreciate you guys 'go to' attitude. I've finished the X-Japan boards. But, we'll end up deleting the whole of the old threads and posting new ones with the same info, credited to the original author. Thank's Shou for working that one out, it's a good idea. Also, Oro I need you to attack the L'arc en Ciel boards and weed through those. If you have a question about anything then just post here or PM one of the mods. EDIT:: Forget shifting through the 100 yen bin. All the stuff there is a bunch of pfffffffffft. I'm deleting it. ALSO! I need you guys to kind of start thinking about helping getting other threads up and running too. There have been a few members that have come and gone because no one was interested in their music. For example the Japanese Hip-Hop and R&B thread was ignored by most of us so those members who really were into that got bored. We're Mods we're supposed to try to please everyone. XD EDIT: I've created a new board. It's called ENCOUNTERS. This thread is opened for anyone to post their encounters with their favorite artists, to talk about their experience at a concert, or Con. If you find any old posts that are like this, don't delete them send them to the ENCOUNTERS board. I have also just created ASIAN POP CULTURE board in which things such as Movies, TV, Fashion, Food, Trends and so on can be discussed. Any threads that you find that have something to do with this please move to ASIAN POP CULTURE under the appropriate sub-board.

Odrah - do you want me to start shifting through the korean music forum? I do have a lot of background in korean music being Korean myself and I would be more than willing to sort through that. (leaving the subforms for Kaga though since she mods the Trax one)
And heehee Encounters. I'll be posting a lot in there then 83

Ha, I know you'll be the queen of the Encounters thread Shou-Shou.
Yeah, you can go ahead and start pilfering the K-music forum. I'm going to hope through the Chinese music forums and finish up in some of the others.
Our last project is going to be the MEMBERS ONLY area.
