When: I can hardly even remember! I think I was ending my sophomore year of High school when I discovered by very first Japanese song. "Forever Love" by X-Japan. I've been into it ever since... that song knocked me off my feeth. So it's been about 4 years now. I'm still a baby when all is considered, I'm getting there. How: A Korean friend of mine introduced me to a Korean pop group called H.O.T. I loved it. In a fury to find more of the same music I stumbled upon a link that lead me into Japan-music land. I found "Forever Love" and became insantly hooked. So I guess you could say Korea was my window into Japan... which is so funny to me because I did an entire term paper on Korean influence in Japan via "the Korean Stepping Stone". I should have added this example in my paper.

When: Halfway through my freshman year. I randomly searched Malice Mizer vids and saw the PV for Beast of Blood, then fell in love.
How: It all started with Cartoon Network. I was really into anime, and I was watching Cyborg 009 for the first time, but I wasn't really too into the show. Then I heard the song in the end credits and I really liked it - globe's 'Genesis of next'. So I go and buy some globe cds *WOW I LIEK DIDN'T DOWNLOAD IT*, and I ended up doing an extra credit report in my Humanities class over Tetsuya Komuro *composer*. I found projectj.net. And I read all the articles there. I ran across names like 'Malice Mizer' and 'Dir en grey', 'hide, 'X JAPAN', but I was liek "Wow, those are some pretty girls" then I went about my business. One day in January, I think it was, I was at the library, I realized I was at a computer with SOUND *mine, at the time, didn't*, and I started randomly searching music artists I was into - TMR and the like. The I thought "Hey, I was kinda curious about what that one band sounded like, right? What was there name?" Malice Mizer. Aaaaand it was all pretty much downhill from there.
