Madeth Gray'll is an excellent indies, goth, dark, "metal", hard rocking band. (One of my all time favorites) They formed some time in 1997 I'm lead to believe Hisui (the vocalist that sported the name "Kei" at the time) and Hizumi (or called "Ibitsu" by some) formed the band. In that one year they were signed to Matina records (run by Kisaki from Syndrome, Hisui was vice president of Matina as well as a close personal friend to Kisaki) and put out 4 demo tapes.
The band's line up was Hisui (kei) on vocals, Hizumi (ibitsu) on lead guitar, Shizuru on guitar, Yukina on bass, and I'm really unsure if Tsubaki was their drummer (though in pvs from that era he appears in them so I'd say yes) This line up is one of my less favorites because they were REALLY indies XD and it showed on their low paid pvs and REALLY demo sounding demo tapes lol.
In around 1998 they put out another 3 demo tapes and one single. Sadly, in May that year Hizumi was tragically killed in a car accident on his way to hide's funeral. Leaving Madeth Gray'll without a guitarist and a tough decision, do they end the band or go on without Hizumi.
They choose to go on of course, I'm sure with much regret and heartache. In June, Madeth puts out a memorial video for Hizumi called "Rasen Kaiden to Kioku" with two songs preformed live at Hizumi's memorial live. I believe around this time (though it's not documented O.O) Ukyou joins as their new guitarist anyway, "Hakuchuumu no sangeki" is released two different version one with a white jacket and one with a black at Vintage Bar also their video for "Parasite" is released the same day (>> I have this vhs lol it's um..."special" we'll say and Ukyou does not appear in the video) later on that month their first maxi single is released ("Juujika no Ketsumatsu" )
I'm lead to believe that around this time Shizuru and Tsubaki leave for whatever reason. Izumi joins the band as guitarist and Reika joins (though, I think they had a temp drummer before him but who cares) making Hisui and Yukina the only orginal members of Madeth Gray'll. They release the maxi single "Juujika no Ketsumatsu -dai ni no higeki" and the second press of "Juujika no Ketsumatsu" preform live and around this time Ukyou leaves the band, making Izumi the lead guitarist.
In 1999 they release (as my favorite line up to date) their first full album "Lucifer" (it has a longer name but I don't want to type it out) Airi joins as the second guitarist, a few months later they put out "Boukai no Mato~entith de marge" (cd maxi single) that comes with one sticker of each member, the second press version comes with stickers of ALL five members (you know which one I got XD)
On November 28th (;-; sad day) Hisui announces Yukina is leaving the band and that they are disbanding (;-; ) also announcing the last live date and release their cd sing "Norowareshi hana no seimei".
In January Madeth Gray'll play their last live ever. They release a "History Album" called "Higeki no Shuumaku" a Special video is released to those that buy the cd at the live. (I dunno if I own this, I have three madeth vhses XD) later on that same month they OFFICALLY release "Higeki no Shuumaku" as their last cd.
The band has been through a number of changes, but always managed to only get better and stronger. Not to disregard the other line ups but Hisui, Yukina, Reika, Izumi and Airi (even though Airi was in the band a VERY short time) was my favorite line up. Izumi was a powerful guitarist that complimented Hisui's lyrics and vocals PERFECTLY. Reika's drumming set the mood for Madeth's dark and powerful music, I know very little about Airi (though more now through his new band) Hisui is one of my ALL time favorite vocalist/song writers. So beautiful, his voice can be so soothing even when he's vomit screaming (or trying to) He really shows emotion VERY well though his voice. Yukina was/is a great bassist and I would love to hear if he's still playing. Yukina and Hisui were the main song writers of the band. The louder more hard songs are usually written by Yukina, where as the more soothing, emotional, gothic toned songs are usually Hisui.
Although I am saddened on a daily basis that this great, my favorite band, is no more the band members are still nothing but great friends.
Yukina, Hisui and Reika preformed together on a band project called "gyarandou" (it includes members of other bands as well) releasing a demo tape called "omae ni check" Hisui and Yukina wrote songs for the project, Yukina's song features Yukina on vocals, Hisui on back up and Reika on drums. Hisui's I believe just has him singing XD (with misc other members of bands playing) Yukina's song is my favorite because they act like such dorks screaming like idiots and having fun.
Since the break up Hisui has been part of MANY session bands (mostly ones involved with Matina) He appears in the "Matina All Through Enternity" video XD Singing for one band or another.
Reika soon joined (my new favorite band XD) Doremidan. Where he has been ever since. I'll write up a bio about them some other time. He is truely his most happiest there. They've put out several cds and have been included on many Undercode Production (Kisaki's NEW label) tours as well as the members themselves being in compilation cds (like Makoto in Loop Of Life cds) Because of Doremidan's popularity it's VERY hard to get Doremidan cds because they sell out like the minute they hit stands (no fair ;-; ) but I'm really happy for them.
They have a rockish, swing type feel to them ^.^ they can be bouncy or really dark depending on who's writing what song.
Hisui formed a band called "Jelly Berry" reuniting with ex Madeth guitarist Ukyou (and others) Jelly Berry had a short lived career and broke up (though they were VERY good band)
Airi went on to join Crackbrain (and then they soon broke up >>;; I think Airi is a curse XD)
Hisui formed Schwardix Marvally, recruiting ex Crackbrain members (and reuniting with ex Madeth guitarist Airi) Airi and Hizaki as guitarists. For some reason (I think it was a plot to get to Reika) Hisui took in ex Doremidan bassist Ko-zi as a support bassist. Their first cd has many guest from the bands they covered. Their first cd is nothing but cover songs, Including a cover of Lucifer (Madeth Gray'll song) In which Hisui recruited ex Madeth drummer Reika. ^.^
Must of been wierd since On that song it's Hisui, Airi, Reika (ex Madeth) Hizaki and Ko-zi (ex Doremidan) haha the past haunts Reika XD
Anyway they have Rum (XD from whatever band) as their permenant bassist.
With the help of Kisaki (they were on tours for Undercode Productions), Shwardix Marvally's popularity has grown a ton, they have more fans than I can shake a fist at, both here in the states and in Japan.
They are more hard and metal sounding, I think, than Madeth but that's ok.
Both Doremidan and Schwardix Marvally are still together, and doing GREAT so check them out
*PIMPS HER FAVORITE INDIES BANDS*
AND IF YOU THINK THIS IS LONG! JUST WAIT TILL I START ON KISAKI PROJECT mwahahahahaha!!
Anyway, If you have any questions or want MP3s just ask I'll be willing to give what I have on any of the bands.
*bows* ;D
