Shou, thanks for the awesome list! I'm not really looking for jazzy or puinkish stuff though. <.<
Percival, I've been diggin' Luna Sea and Gazette alot lately. Funny you would mention uuna Sea like that.
I still haven't even checked out half those before mentioned bands, so now I got so much more added to the list. ^_^

Now that I think of, Luna Sea seems to be the only band that had many songs that sound like what I want. I'm downloading some L'Arc~En~Ciel at the moment, since I've heard them mentioned so many times. Finding J-rock to download was pretty hard up until yesterday. I wasn't searching the right places.
I'm so in love with the song "Rosier".

Since you like the older Dir en grey stuff (hey I started out with Cage and YOKAN too =D we're on the same boat) I tried to find things that would fit that genre though its really hard to match it. Jrock is really interesting and fun in that way. PSST. one more recommendation since you're getting into LUNA SEA - try out Sugizo and the Spank Your Juice. it's guitarist Sugizo's solo project thinger.

I'd reccommend X Japan, because they just rule like that, and hide also. I haven't heard a hide song I don't love. I also reccommend D, Buck-Tick, The Back Horn, The Trax, and, um, yeah. I didn't recognize any of the American bands that you liked, so I just threw some stuff out there.
I'm a rabid Dir en grey fan, and though it takes a while to get used to, most of their stuff is definitely some great music.

Yeah, I'm loving Dir En Grey right now, but their screamy stuff is still putting me off. I'm a fan of a ton of American loud/noise/dissonant music, so it's not the actual sound that is putting me off, it's just I'm wanting more melodic stuff, I guess. So far I've only heard Gauze though.
I've heard much X Japan that I liked, but I'm not into a metal sound right now.
Anyways, the vocalist from Janne Da Arc has such a pretty voice!

Older Dir en grey songs are more melodic than newer ones so I'd suggest you stick with stuff like MISSA and GAUZE (gauze! aww hell yeah!!!). their latest single, in my personal opinion was just Kyo screaming and gobbling for 3 minutes straight >(
X Japan's ballads are love. ;D

izayoi no tsuki - Kozi (instrumental, classical gothicy. not something you listen to alone at night in the dark) lmao - I've done that. Listened to half the album alone at night in the dark, in fact. Ooooooooooooo... EDIT: I'd definitely recommend Protoplasm, the title track of the latest Rentrer en Soi single. ^_^

Ooh!
I previously only had Gauze downloaded, but now I've gotten Missa, Kisou, and Withering to Death, and I'm lovin' them too. I think DeG is my favorite J-rock band so far.

I'd recommend the Macabre album too. It's soooo hard for me to decide between their albums because they all for the most part are AWESOME (I don't have Vulgar though . . .), but if I had to pick, it would have to be Macabre. (The song Macabre is my favorite Dir en grey song . . . so beautiful).
Macabre also wins firs prize for coolest packaging EVER. *plays with little wooden balls* Because I bought it, I'm cool that way. ^.^ Meh.

Ooooooooooooo... oh my gosh I listened to the whole album alone at night in the dark and I got the chills. I guess that's the effect Kozi was looking for? Anyway I'd also recommend DOREMIdan. theyre visual rockers. =D
