I know me and shino have experienced this, who else? I remeber the first time my dad heard X Japan. We were in the car one day driving to go see a concert I belive (which was sadly canceled.) he was making fun of my jpop and jrpck as usual when I popped the X Japan live CD in (it was the only one I had) He not only turned the volume up BUT he asked me if I had any concert DVDs of them. He suggested I get some. CRAZYNESSS.

Eh, my parents can only make fun of me. My mom walked into my room when I was listening to "Crucify My Love" one time, and said "Wow, that's beautiful. Is that a Christian song?" X-x.....

lol...I'd die of laughter too..too bad my mom is "being trendy" and she listens to preppy stuff like Robbie Williams and Daniel Beddingfield..she can't stand Shinya(diru). She doesn't appreciate X Japan, but at least my daddy does

My mum and dad still think I'm strange for listening to X Japan, you guys are lucky that you have parents that appreciate it.

Aren't sublimital messahes fun? If you play a bit of "hit me baby one more time" by Britney spears you get "Sleep with me I'm not too young." err anyway, I taked to a giy at work today and he seemed really interested in X Japan (he lives in LA) He knows a guy who's really into the asian rock scene and he said he'd see if his friend knows anything about Yoshiki. It seems the older crowd does seem to care about World bands more. This guy was a nice tipper too!

Yes well the younger generation views them as either too old or too mainstream and that's not fair. They don't realise if it wasn't for X thier bands wouldn't be around. Hell I know more adults closer to my parent's age that like X Japan becuase it's closer to the style of music they liked when they were teens. Not to mention our generation has no sence of musical style or taste it seems >.>

Yeah..I totally agree. hide and yoshiki made so many bands possible(and they even made it big). Hell...all the bands now sound alike...shows how much creativity everyone has now.

I think it's all a matter of the times. How many kids do you know learn instruments at young ages in school anymore? none! The quality of music has gone downhill becuase the quality of music in school is GONE

DuelJewel was influenced greatly by Luna Sea and X Japan. we asked Yuya who influenced him the most. he was all "luna sea baby <3" ex-madeth gray'll drummer (currently in DOREMIdan) Reika's idols are hide and Yoshiki You already know about the impact X had on Dir en grey
long story short, X Japan/Luna Sea/ all the other old bands have influenced nearly EVERY SINGLE jrock band currently up and running.

Seriously, who else are they supposed to look up to? there were other bands like X Japan back in the day but they never turned into anything.

My dad keeps complaining about Toshi's vocals, but I think he likes hide's guitaring skills. X japan..well..they stood out I guess, plus with Yoshiki as leader..and hide as a guitarist and entertainer..how can they possibly fail?
